The Referral Specialist serves as the liaison for patients and physicians while providing education to the patients regarding insurance coverage, benefits and guidelines. Works with patients requiring a referral, to ensure patient's referral needs are fulfilled for specialty service office visits, ancillary testing and/or surgical procedures. Processes referrals, authorizations and pre-certifications to ensure proper patient care is met. Performs a wide range of administrative duties to include but not limited to; verification of benefits, maintain ongoing tracking; gathering appropriate documentation on referrals to promote team awareness and guarantee patient safety; contacting insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met and regularly updating the patient's primary care chart, so it is up to date with information on specialist consults and communication from all inhouse and outside parties. Qualifications -1-year related experience in a healthcare environment -History in patient scheduling/registration, insurance verification and referral coordination -Strong customer service focus -Resourcefulness in problem solving -Effective verbal and written communication skills -Teamwork orientation -Organized record keeping -Able to take and follow through with delegated tasks and accountability -High School Diploma/GED Dignity Health's Pacific Central Coast Health Centers (PHC) is a non-profit Community clinic organization comprised of more than 40 health centers located primarily from Ventura to Templeton, spanning the coast. Our experienced physicians and advanced practice providers offer a wide range of primary and specialty care services. PHC is a part of Dignity Health Central Coast's award-winning network of outstanding hospitals, imaging centers, laboratories, and post-acute services.
