Temporary Rink Assistant
The Temporary Rink Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Department of Athletics and Physical Education through the daily operations of Lynah Rink. Responsibilities include ice resurfacing, sharpening skates, performing custodial tasks, assisting with skate rentals and public skating sessions, and preparing the facility for men's and women's intercollegiate ice hockey games. This position requires the ability to remain standing for extended periods of time, and a commitment to ensuring a safe, clean, and well-functioning environment for all rink activities. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license. Demonstrated ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds, including performing tasks involving lifting, pulling, and pushing. Prior experience operating a range of power equipment in a maintenance or facilities setting. Proven proficiency in routine equipment and facility repair and maintenance. Capability to work at heights using ladders and to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods, including in adverse weather conditions. Experience in skate sharpening. Skilled in the safe and effective use of hand tools and power equipment. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively and professionally with the general public. Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities. Preferred Qualifications: Supervisory and cash handling experience. Experience with ice rink operations. Familiarity and understanding of various sports.
