Temp/Seasonal Office Assistant

This is a temporary/seasonal position and will NOT be eligible for benefits, paid leave time (vacation, sick, holiday), or participation in the retirement system. About our opportunity: The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Temp/Seasonal Office Assistant in the Parks & Recreation Department. The Parks and Recreation Department provides programs and services throughout the City of Asheville. This temporary/seasonal position is anticipated to be year-round, not to exceed 1000 hours in a calendar year. What you'll be doing: Receive and reconcile credit card purchases Receive and transfer calls and messages Process information using computerized data entry equipment and various word processing programs to enter, store, and/or retrieve information as requested or otherwise necessary Work with MUNIS and Google Suite (training will be provided) Transmit and receive messages via e-mail Receive and route invoices for payment Perform other similar duties as required Work Schedule: 1520 hours minimum per week during office hours of MondayFriday, 8:30 AM5:00 PM. Flexible schedules are available depending on availability, and additional hours per week may be considered. About you: We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered: High School Diploma or equivalent AND at least one (1) year of related experience in customer service, accounting, office environment, or similar Performance Aptitudes: General knowledge of learned procedures, practices, and routines to deal effectively with routine work Ability to read and understand basic workplace data, such as simple forms, tables, graphs, schedules, etc. Ability to understand existing internal policies and procedures Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written form Ability to analyze situations to pinpoint problems and assist with solving problems or identifying sources of obstacles Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships as required by work assignments Ability to work independently with limited supervision Ability to bring resources together to resolve a problem or provide a solution Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary in nature, performed in an office environment.
