Collections Specialist/Special Projects

Airgas is hiring for a Collections Specialist/Special Projects in Long Beach, CA! We are looking for you! $25 to $26 per hour based on experience Monday - Friday (No Weekends) This position requires the first 90 days to be worked in the office; a hybrid work arrangement may be possible after successful training. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Collection Specialist/Special Projects to join our growing team. This dual-role position will be responsible for managing outstanding accounts and leading various special projects to improve our financial operations. Job Responsibilities Collection Specialist Duties: Resolve past due balances within policy guidelines, while maintaining positive customer relations Make outbound telephone calls to customers in collection status to collect monies owed Send correspondence to customers regarding their past due balance and action needed to bring their account current Manage incoming payments on past due accounts Work closely with Sales Representatives and other Operations team members to resolve account issues Maintain professional and courteous communication with all customers Provide feedback to Sales Management and Credit Department on delinquent accounts Maintain quality relationships with branch managers, account managers and sales managers. These relationships can be critical with collection efforts. Involve regional managers when possible and keep them informed of issues at all times. Review Customer Service education courses frequently so that collection efforts do not damage customer relationship Special Projects Duties: Lead and participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving financial processes and efficiencies Analyze financial data and identify areas for improvement Provide feedback to the Credit Department on delinquent accounts Prepare project summaries and present findings to management Are You a Match?
Job Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong attention to detail Commercial collection experience preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel) and Google (Sheets, Docs, Slides) Experience in collections, sales, customer service or related field Bilingual Spanish-English a plus Knowledge of AR systems, policies and procedures (SAP) Ability to manage multiple priorities Your differences enhance our performance At Airgas, we are committed to building a workplace that embraces the diversity of our employees, our customers, patients, community stakeholders and cultures across the world.
