Job Overview:

The Estimator supports the preparation of accurate, competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects. This role requires estimating experience, understanding construction methods, and schedule impact awareness. The Estimator works under senior guidance but manages specific scopes, performs quantity takeoffs, and contributes to bid strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop scope sheets.
  • Evaluate subcontractor bids for completeness and write scope clarifications.
  • Assist with bid leveling, comparisons, and track addenda and RFI responses.
  • Prepare internal estimate documents and collaborate on constructability and scheduling during preconstruction.

Requirements:

  • Experience in estimating commercial construction projects, familiar with CSI divisions, drawing/spec review, and trade-specific scopes.
  • Knowledge of constructability and construction sequencing impacts.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines across multiple bids.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.

Experience:

At least 2-5 years of estimating experience in commercial construction; experience with general contracting or construction management firms is preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading plans and specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and estimating software.
  • Strong communication skills for interactions with subcontractors and teams.

Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently, resolve scope gaps, and collaborate effectively.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and understand schedule impacts.

Certifications:

No certifications required; OSHA 10, LEED, or DBIA knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications:

Experience with healthcare, higher education, or entertainment projects is advantageous. Familiarity with Procore, Building Connected, or similar tools is a plus.

Working Conditions:

Primarily office-based with occasional site visits and pre-bid meetings. Standard hours, with extended hours during bid periods.
