Staff Accountant/Senior Accountant
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant or Senior Accountant with 2-3+ years of experience to assist with accounting and finance functions. This role involves supporting the Financial Controller in the day-to-day operations, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and month-end close processes. The ideal candidate should possess strong attention to detail, accountability, and a proactive attitude.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Financial Controller with day-to-day accounting and finance operations.
- Support month-end and year-end general ledger close processes and reporting requirements.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
- Monitor and record transactions affecting daily position and inventory balances.
- Maintain the general ledger, including reviewing account mapping and adding new accounts.
- Manage customer credit and lien administration, including new customer setup and credit limit assessment.
- Prepare and complete year-end audit and regulatory audits as necessary.
- Monitor regulatory and tax filing requirements, including grain taxes and tonnage reports.
- Assist with financial settlements and budget management.
- Identify control and procedural weaknesses and recommend improvements.
- Prepare ad-hoc reporting and participate in special projects as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business.
- Experience in month-end close processes, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables.
- Ability to file sales tax or property tax returns.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Sage 100 ERP is a plus.
- Experience in manufacturing or construction industries is beneficial.
- Grain commodity experience is advantageous.
- Strong initiative and ability to take ownership of tasks and processes.
Work Environment
The work environment is laid-back yet professional, with a direct management style. The role is 100% onsite, with flexibility for remote work if needed. The office operates Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with a business casual dress code (jeans and nice shirt). Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $85000.00/yr. This company offers a range of benefits, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), a 401(k) plan, and various time-off options like vacation and paid holidays.
