The role
As a Legal Counsel at Legora's New York office, you’ll be at the center of the legal tech revolution, extending our legal team to the US market and ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risks and supporting our dynamic business operations. You will support our commercial and product teams on a broad range of topics. This role will focus primarily on commercial contract drafting and negotiation, requiring independence and flexibility to work across different time zones. You will report to the Head of Legal based in our Stockholm headquarters. The Legora legal function operates across a wide range of legal disciplines and jurisdictions and plays a key role as a partner to all teams with a focus on product development, operations, and commercial projects. Beyond your legal expertise, you should be able to innovate, solve problems and proactively look for solutions in our mission to revolutionize legal work worldwide.
What You Will Be Doing
Work closely with senior stakeholders in operational, commercial and product teams on strategic and day-to-day legal matters, including with new products and services, processes, contracts, partnerships, and supply chains.
Draft and negotiate commercial contracts.
Review product designs, data flows, and processes and help balance risks.
Actively assess and address privacy risks, ensuring alignment with applicable data protection regulations.
Help build efficient and scalable processes to meet legal and regulatory requirements and draft policies and guidelines to help teams proactively design and build requirements into products and processes.
Who you are
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and qualified to practice law as in-house counsel in the State of New York.
5+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or as an in-house legal counsel.
Strong experience negotiating B2B SaaS agreements and supporting commercial teams. You are an excellent negotiator.
Strong legal judgment and ability to make independent decisions.
Experience with corporate matters and drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
Experience with data privacy matters, IT security and/or corporate law is meritorious.
Focus on achieving meaningful business outcomes, translating into actionable advice delivered clearly and comprehensively.
Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic entrepreneurial environment, taking initiative and delivering high-quality results. Comfortable working independently and across different time zones.
