Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below:
Plans, organizes, directs and participates in all activities at a senior citizens center to ensure quality service delivery. Complies with health and safety standards to maintain a suitable environment. Contacts senior citizens to provide information on available social programs such as social security and food stamps and refers to appropriate agency, if needed. Processes application forms and interviews prospective participants to determine qualifications and identify needs. Maintains records and prepares reports using a computer, to keep management informed on center participants and activities. Oversees the work of subordinates, volunteers and food services at the center to ensure adequate quality services are provided. Collects and reports monetary donations. Inspects facility to ensure proper maintenance and security. Performs other related duties as required. Job Specifications
Knowledge of office policies, practices and procedures for area of assignment. Knowledge of theory, terminology, techniques and practices of gerontology and dealing with elderly clients. Knowledge of the laws and regulations governing Adult Day Care Standards, Older Americans Act Programs and Community Care for the Elderly Programs. Skill in the application of interviewing techniques. Ability to work effectively with others. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to deal with clients and others in stressful situations. Ability to use a computer and related software. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit and talk or hear. Work Category

- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Minimum Qualifications Required
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; AND Two years of experience working with clients in community services, social services, aging or health related programs; OR An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above.
Emergency Management Responsibilities
In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee's department, the County's Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.
Additional Job Requirements
A department, depending on the nature of its mission and operations, may require that employees in all or certain positions in this job classification: Maintain the ability to pass the background checks required for the position. These background checks may include but are not limited to: Criminal History Background Check using Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Level 1 and Level 2 Background screening (Ch. 435 Florida Statutes) Child Abuse, Abandonment and Neglect Record Check using the State Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) Sex Offender and Sexual Predator record check using the list maintained by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Possess the necessary job-related license(s) or certification(s) that may include possession of a Florida Driver License (Class E).
