Retreat Center Coordinator - Allerton Park and Retreat Center

Allerton Park and Retreat Center, located in Monticello, Illinois, is accepting applications for a Retreat Center Coordinator. The position oversees the day to day Retreat Center operations and assists with implementation of standards set forth by the Retreat Center Manager. The hours for this position are Monday- Friday, 12:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m., (with weekend events and late nights required, as needed.)

Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversees the day to day operations with a primary focus on 2nd shift staff and hotel/event operations.

• Responsible for resolving issues and making good judgment calls that may arise.

• Maintains high standards of quality control in all aspects of hospitality service including event execution, food and beverage service, and the appearance of event facilities.

• Responsible for sales, contracting, planning, invoicing, and executing weddings, conferences, retreats, and special events in order to meet revenue targets.

• Act as point of contact for guests during their visit to Allerton including event attendees, hotel guests, and other on-site vendors.

• Greeting and registering guests and checking guests into the hotel. This includes, but is not limited to, making reservations, sending confirmation emails, processing payments, processing refunds, and resolving complaints.

• On-site event management.

• Supervise bartenders and act as bartender as needed.

• Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Student Affairs, or a closely related field.

• One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in Events Planning, Conference Management, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or any other related field.

• Demonstrated experience in hospitality and/or sales. Preferred Qualifications

• Broad understanding of and experience with large research universities, faculty, and students.

• 4 years of experience in the hospitality industry.

• Extensive experience with the food and beverage industry with emphasis on catering services. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to represent Allerton Park & Retreat Center and maintain credibility by conducting oneself appropriately and professionally.

• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities.

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to work with diverse populations.

• Broad understanding of marketing techniques used to attract meetings, weddings, and events.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5009 - Events Administrator Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. The salary range for this position is $50,000-$55,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
