Schedules surgeries and procedures conducted in both surgery center and hospital.

Processes Physician's order based on urgency or routine. Reviews calendars for Operating Room and physician availability. Works with the patient on scheduling procedure and preop requirements. Arranges for assistant surgeons when indicated. Orders/arranges for special equipment or medical supplies necessary for case. Calls insurance to obtain authorization and determine benefits. Reviews and clarifies benefits, cost of surgery, and expected out-of-pocket expenses with the patient when requested. Schedules pre-op date, post-op date, and other diagnostic tests as needed. Coordinates pre-op and registration with the hospital or surgery center. Assists patient with medical clearance as required. Manages Epic work queues assigned to employee. May also act as a Patient Service Coordinator and/or Medical Assistant based on clinic need and required certification. Other duties as assigned. other duties:

qualifications and education requirements
High school graduate or GED required. Minimum of 1-2 years preferred experience in a medical facility or as a surgery scheduler. Excellent communication skills, judgment and organizational skills. Must be able to work under pressure and handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner. Ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks as assigned without direct supervision. preferred skills
