Construction Manager
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee and manage the Construction Inspection Department and Projects. The successful candidate will coordinate daily work activities across Inspection Resident Project Representatives (RPRs), Project Managers, and contractors. This role involves training and mentoring inspection staff, ensuring project time, cost management, documentation, communication, risk management, and quality assurance are maintained throughout all construction phases.
Responsibilities
Provide guidance and oversight to construction inspectors and assist with job site inspections as needed.
Facilitate and conduct regularly scheduled construction meetings.
Coordinate and partner with contractors to schedule inspection activities and resolve field issues.
Manage technical and cost efforts of construction projects, leading the project team and coordinating work with various project entities to meet deadlines and budgets.
Coordinate and track multiple project activities and plan staffing requirements to ensure adequate coverage.
Oversee validation of products and materials ordered for projects to verify their conformance to specifications.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for construction procedures and safe working conditions.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
10+ years of experience in construction management on water/wastewater utilities projects.
5+ years of experience in staff management/oversight, including hiring, project staffing, and performance evaluation.
Understanding of bidding, estimating, and risk management of utility projects - water/wastewater.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting water/wastewater project drawings and specifications.
Ability to multi-task and carry out projects with tight deadlines.
Ability to travel to job sites across Indiana (valid driver's license required).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Professional Engineer Certification is highly desired.
Experience working on federally-funded infrastructure projects.
Experience using Procore.
Work Environment
The Construction Manager will work from the office and visit construction sites across the State of Indiana, with some projects extending into Kentucky. This role requires occasional overnight travel, typically for one night per trip. A company vehicle is provided for this position. The inspection team consists of over 30 Resident Project Representatives (RPRs), two Construction Engineering Technicians, and another Construction Manager. Standard construction hours are from 7 AM to 4 PM, with some overtime required, and candidates should be prepared to work up to 50 hours as needed. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
