Chief Technical Architect
Cimarron is seeking a Chief Technical Architect to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at either Schriever Space Force Base in the Colorado Springs, CO area or at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. Key Duties: Develop and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks to support mission-critical systems, including command and control, cybersecurity, and cloud-based platforms. Design and implement scalable cloud-native solutions, AI-driven platforms, and microservices architectures. Collaborate with senior DoD leadership, military stakeholders, and interagency partners to align IT architectures with national security objectives. Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies such as AI/ML, zero-trust architecture, and quantum-resistant cryptography to maintain technological superiority. Establish governance frameworks to ensure compliance with federal regulations including NIST 800-53, FISMA, and DoD cybersecurity standards. Develop and maintain enterprise technology roadmaps, standards, and governance processes to guide IT investments and initiatives. Oversee the evaluation, selection, and integration of emerging technologies, ensuring alignment with industry trends and best practices. Lead architecture reviews, audits, and optimization efforts to maintain a resilient and future-proof IT infrastructure. Lead ITSM initiatives based on ITIL to optimize service delivery, including incident management, change management, and service continuity for high-availability systems. Communicate complex architectural strategies to non-technical stakeholders, including senior military officials, interagency partners, and external contractors. Supervise and mentor a team of architects and engineers, fostering innovation and ensuring alignment with DoD's mission-driven culture. Required Skills, Experience, and Education: Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at the time. Strategic vision to align IT architectures with DoD national security priorities and anticipate technological disruptions. 16 or more years of general full-time work experience. 15 or more years of progressive experience in IT architecture. 5 or more years in a Chief Architect or equivalent senior leadership role within a large-scale enterprise environment. Proven industry experience in a chief architect role, demonstrating successful leadership of architecture teams and delivery of high-impact projects across multiple enterprise sectors such as Department of Defense, public sector, and commercial. Broad technical expertise across multiple domains, including cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), cybersecurity, data analytics, AI/ML, DevOps, and enterprise software systems. Proven experience designing architectures for large-scale enterprise systems, including cloud migrations and digital transformation projects. In-depth understanding of IT service management (ITSM) frameworks. In-depth understanding of ITIL framework and best practices, including incident management, problem management, change management, and service release management. Experience leading and mentoring technical teams to foster innovation, performance, and professional growth. Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Desired Skills, Experience, and Education: ITIL v4 Foundation Certification (Managing Professional preferred). Broad technical knowledge across cloud platforms, cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, Zero Trust), data interoperability, emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, quantum-resistant systems), and industry trends (e.g., hybrid cloud, DevSecOps). Experience in Department of Defense (DoD) IT operations or similar industry. Project management experience. ITIL Strategic Leader certification. TOGAF 9 certification (The Open Group Architecture Framework). DoDAF certification (DoD Architecture Framework). Certified Enterprise Architect (CEA) FEAC Institute. IT Service Management certifications such as ITIL Expert, COBIT 2019 Foundation, or ITIL Management Professional.
