Role Title:
Infrastructure Business Analyst
Location:
Sheffield or Birmingham – 3 days a week onsite
Business Unit:
Technology / Infrastructure Services (Banking)
Role Purpose
The Infrastructure Business Analyst will act as a key liaison between business stakeholders, technology teams, and infrastructure delivery units. The role involves gathering, analysing, and documenting requirements to support the delivery of infrastructure change initiatives across HSBC’s global technology estate. The successful candidate will ensure infrastructure solutions are aligned with HSBC’s strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and security standards.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with business stakeholders, project managers, and technical teams to elicit, analyse, and document infrastructure requirements.
Support the design, implementation, and upgrade of HSBC’s infrastructure platforms (Cloud, Networks, Servers, Storage, Databases, Security, End-User Computing).
Facilitate workshops, interviews, and requirement-gathering sessions to translate business needs into technical deliverables.
Work closely with architects and engineers to ensure proposed solutions meet functional, security, and compliance requirements.
Produce and maintain documentation including business requirement documents (BRDs), functional specifications, process flows, and user stories.
Assist in creating and maintaining project roadmaps, timelines, and status reporting.
Support migration and transformation programmes (e.g., datacentre to cloud, infrastructure refresh, resilience upgrades).
Ensure traceability of requirements through design, build, test, and implementation phases.
Coordinate with testing teams to validate infrastructure deliverables against requirements.
Identify and escalate risks, issues, and dependencies affecting infrastructure delivery.
Champion HSBC’s standards in security, resilience, and operational excellence.
Skills & Experience Required
5+ years’ experience
as a Business Analyst, preferably within
banking or financial services .
Strong background in
infrastructure projects
(Cloud, Networks, Datacentre migrations, End-User Computing, Storage, Security, Middleware).
Good understanding of
Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
and hybrid infrastructure models.
Knowledge of
regulatory and compliance requirements
in financial services (e.g., FCA, PRA, GDPR, SOX).
Proficiency in
business analysis tools
(JIRA, Confluence, MS Visio, Power BI).
Familiarity with
Agile
and
Waterfall
delivery methodologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a
global, complex, and regulated environment .
