Performs basic adult cardiac echocardiogram procedures to include 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler and 3-D LVEF Echocardiograms. Assists with trans-esophageal echocardiograms. In training for exercise stress and pharmacological stress echocardiograms and pediatric (congenital) echocardiograms.

Responsibilities

Performs all basic adult cardiac echocardiogram procedures. Edits tracings, makes measurements and enters data into computer. Distinguishes between normal and abnormal cardiac findings.

Performs cardiac sonographer duties to meet departmental needs including recognizing arrhythmias and implications of specific cardiac and related diagnoses to obtain optimal studies. Operates complex equipment accordingly.

Performs adult echoes on-call. Participates in pediatric on-call echoes with the assistance of a pediatric back-up sonographer.

Participates in exercise stress pharmacologic stress echo training.

Participates in weekly imaging conference presentation.

Facilitates patient flow within the section and maintains a pro-active approach in dealing with patient concerns.

Participates in Quality Assurance and quality control programs.

Ensures that equipment failures are reported and documented.

Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Associates Degree from accredited cardiac ultrasound program or RDCS/RCS-eligible background with 1 year of cardiac echo experience.

Proficient on all equipment in the lab within the first 3 months of employment.

Required Licensure/Certifications - Certified through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Adult Echocardiography or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) in Adult Echocardiography. - Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the state of New Hampshire. - BLS certification required.
