Data Scientist Locations: McLean-VA, Chantilly-VA, or Reston-VA Clearance Required: TS/SCI with Polygraph Requisition Type: Pipeline – this is not a current opening but a talent pipeline for Data Scientists of all levels with polygraph clearances interested in supporting the U.S. Intelligence Community. Responsibilities Develop and implement machine learning, data mining, statistical, and graph-based algorithms to analyze large and complex datasets. Prototype and evaluate multiple algorithms, selecting the final model based on rigorous performance metrics. Design and execute experiments or create models to generate data when training datasets are unavailable. Generate reports and visualizations that provide actionable insights and summarize data findings for clients. Translate complex data analysis into clear, actionable recommendations. Collaborate with subject matter experts to automate manual data analysis processes and integrate analytics into production frameworks. Apply expert knowledge in data science to deliver solutions that address clients\' business needs. Conduct assessments of clients\' preparedness to integrate data analytics into their operations, including technical, cultural, and workforce aspects. Stay current with emerging tools and techniques in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data analytics to continuously improve the quality of your work. Self-driven with the ability to work under minimal supervision, collaborating with clients, managers, and technical staff to understand business needs and deliver data-driven solutions that enhance decision-making and operational effectiveness. Required Degree And Experience Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, mathematics, operations research, engineering, or computer science) with 1-2+ years of relevant work experience; or a Master’s Degree with 1+ years of experience; or a PhD with 0+ years of experience. Relevant experience in applied research, big data analytics, statistics, data science, computer science, operations research, machine learning, or related quantitative disciplines. Required Skills Programming & Data Analysis: Proficiency with data analysis tools and programming languages such as R, Python, SAS, MATLAB, Java, C++, or SQL; experience in developing experiments to collect or simulate data; ability to develop feature vectors and evaluate algorithms. Machine Learning & Statistical Analysis: Knowledge of machine learning, statistical modeling, and data wrangling; experience in developing, training, and validating models; ability to develop data-driven solutions and visualizations. Advanced Analytics & Big Data: Proficiency with AWS, Azure, NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis), Hadoop, Spark; familiarity with Databricks and PySpark. Communication & Collaboration: Strong ability to communicate complex models to non-technical stakeholders; comfortable working in dynamic environments. Required Clearance Active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph. Desired Skills Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL). Experience with unsupervised, semi-supervised, and supervised learning algorithms; understanding of the data science lifecycle (e.g., CRISP-DM). Experience applying AI/ML techniques to cybersecurity challenges or problems; Security+ certification may be preferred. Ability to build models for deployment in real-time environments and support cybersecurity missions. Strong background in developing predictive models and quantitative simulations; experience in consulting, including organizational and technology assessments.
