Overview

The Principal Data Scientist within the Immunotherapy Platform (IMT) will serve as an expert and lead the design and development of the computational methods for advanced research and development in numerical analysis, mathematical modeling and data processing techniques. The primary duties are overseeing the bioinformatics and data scientist group to analyze data from clinical trials at IMT, working closely with the Directors of Immunmonitoring and Pathology teams at IMT, and collaborating with the Institute for Data Science in Oncology (IDSO) and other internal/external collaborators. Job Competencies

Data Analysis Serves as an expert and leads the development of algorithms and novel strategies to analyze and visualize large-scale multi-omics datasets from internal and publicly available datasets for biomarker discovery Designs and guides feasibility analyses of new assays in conjunction with assay development Present bioinformatics analyses to pharmaceutical and MD Anderson collaborators Oversee the generation of detailed and well-organized documentation of analysis and methods. Compose bioinformatics analysis and methods sections for manuscripts and grant applications Manage data storage and reporting for the platform and publications as needed Explore and implement cutting-edge approaches to the analysis of datasets. Independently review literature to integrate advanced bioinformatics, statistics, and immunology research Ensure hardware and software requirements are outlined and met for high-throughput data storage, software upgrades, and analysis Collaboration/Alliance Contribute to a highly collaborative work environment toward the research goals of the Immunotherapy Platform, participating in brainstorming, planning, and data sharing sessions Collaborate with peers from cross-functional teams to analyze and interpret complex large datasets and communicate findings Supervision Lead and mentor a team of qualified computational scientists; Provide training and education in statistical and bioinformatics analysis of multi-omics datasets such as CODEX, CosMx, GeoMx, scRNA and DNA sequencing, including TCR/BCR sequencing, ATAC-seq, whole exome sequencing to support target discovery and translational research Other duties as assigned Working Conditions
