The program is designed to develop the next generation of financial communications leaders. Edelman Smithfield’s Analyst Program offers college graduates the opportunity to launch their careers in financial communications. Our full-time, 15-month program provides hands-on experience working with global companies and financial services brands, developing media relations, research and writing skills, and learning the intricacies of financial services, deal work, special situations, investor relations, digital financial communications, sustainability and governance advisory. The program has opportunities in New York, Washington DC, Chicago, and San Francisco, with a flexible, hybrid work schedule (at least three days per week in the office). Responsibilities
Drafting and editing materials including press releases, investor presentations, Q&As and other materials Conducting in-depth research/peer benchmarking of financial metrics, company disclosure, sell-side analyst commentary and estimates Working with various media outlets to manage reporter contacts, inquiries, and interviews Monitoring client-related news and filings daily, and alerting teams to breaking news events Developing a comprehensive understanding of clients’ businesses and key stakeholders, and sharing knowledge with the account team Demonstrating strong writing, narrative development, messaging and creative skills Collaborating with the team and providing daily client support in partnership with the client lead Participating in new business processes including research, proposal and pitch preparation Additional skills and experiences
Creating financial communications plans and goals for strategic situations and investor relations, including development of tactical and strategic elements Counseling clients on messaging and positioning across external investor and financial communications (earnings releases, conference call scripts, corporate news, investor presentations, and general investor communications) Supporting both retainer-based and transaction-oriented project work (including M&A, IPOs, shareholder activism, and investor days) Interacting with client shareholders and sell-side analysts, collecting feedback, supporting non-deal road shows, and addressing investor community needs Program and Qualifications
A selective program for leaders of tomorrow; ideal for individuals seeking a fast-paced, intellectually challenging environment to develop as a financial communications practitioner Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, adaptability to new conditions and deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to delegate tasks and edit others’ work Strong analytical skills, including comfort with synthesizing company disclosures and financial data Ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite Strong work ethic and commitment to quality work Demonstrated initiative and leadership through internships, student organizations, prior work experiences or volunteerism Keen interest in financial communications or related experience in research, investment management, consulting, marketing or finance Previous internship experience in financial communications, investor relations, investment banking, management consulting or related agencies is a bonus Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 a year. Compensation is based on factors including education, experience, location, and business needs.
