Overview

Director, Investor Relations at Valmont Industries, Inc. is responsible for advancing Valmont’s relationship with the investment community through strategic event management, investor-focused communications, and compelling messaging. The position reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Investor Relations and Treasurer and leads the Investor Relations function, driving strategy and execution of IR programs including quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences, roadshows, and the development of presentations, scripts, and press releases. The role represents Valmont with the investment community and collaborates with executives, internal finance and marketing teams, and external partners. The ideal candidate proactively shapes Valmont’s investor narrative, anticipates market expectations, and advises senior leadership on investor sentiment and trends. The position requires broad knowledge of the Company, familiarity with the investment community, the ability to independently execute complex tasks with scrupulous attention to detail, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. The role requires working with external advisors to draft press releases, create presentations, and develop communications for shareholders, prospects, and rating agencies. Essential Functions

This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Investor Relations and Treasurer and may have one or more direct reports, depending on team structure and business needs.

Travel up to 15% domestically or internationally, including overnight stays.

Oversee and direct the strategy, planning, scheduling, and execution of all investor relations events including quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences, analyst days, non-deal roadshows, and post-earnings calls.

Develop, own and drive the annual IR strategy and engagement calendar, coordinating with sell-side analysts, institutional investors, and internal stakeholders.

Independently manage incoming investor inquiries and correspondence, providing clear, accurate, and consistent information to maintain investor confidence.

Develop comprehensive investor marketing materials including presentations, financial profiles, and IR website content.

Collaborate with CEO, CFO, Finance Business Partners, ELT and Marketing/Communications to refine investment thesis in response to evolving Company strategy.

Serve as a senior advisor to the executive team on investor trends, risks, and opportunities; shape messaging to align with capital markets expectations.

Engage with internal leaders to develop key messages and themes for quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences, and strategic communications.

Lead the drafting of press releases and strategic announcements relevant to investors, analysts, and rating agencies, including acquisitions and partnerships.

Serve as primary day-to-day spokesperson for investors and analyst inquiries, communicating Valmont’s financial results, strategy, and performance.

Provide senior management with actionable insights from investor feedback, stock performance analysis, market sentiment, and peer benchmarking.

Maintain and enhance IR databases, capturing insights for analytical reporting and strategic engagement.

Occasionally travel with management to investor conferences and roadshows to facilitate high-quality investor interactions.

Perform strategic analysis on Valmont, peers, and market dynamics to inform executives and investor messaging.

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within investor relations processes and stakeholder engagement.

Required Qualifications of a Director-Level Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, communications, or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or associate’s degree with 10+ years, or 12+ years in investor relations, corporate finance, or financial communications.

Proven experience leading investor relations strategy at a public company and managing high-impact investor events and communications, including quarterly earnings processes and executive scripting.

Ability to partner with C-level executives and provide actionable capital markets insights.

Track record of developing and executing IR strategies that support valuation and shareholder engagement.

Strong analytical and financial acumen with proficiency in interpreting financial statements, modeling, and market data.

Exceptional verbal and written communications skills to convey complex financial concepts clearly.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with financial analysis platforms such as FactSet, Bloomberg or Capital IQ.

Strategic thinker with sound judgment and cross-functional influence.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage external investor audiences and internal stakeholders.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

MBA or master’s degree in finance, economics, communications, or related field.

12+ years of relevant experience, ideally including IR leadership at a public manufacturing company or sell-side/buy-side analyst role.

Advanced proficiency with investor analytics platforms, financial modeling tools, and shareholder databases.

Working Environment And Physical Efforts

Work is typically performed in an office environment. The incumbent may be required to sit for extended periods and use a computer. Occasional travel is expected. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral and depth perception. Minimal lifting up to 15 pounds is occasionally required.
