As a Sr. DevOps Engineer, you will be an Appian technical leader within our Federal Customer Success team as well as an advisor to Appian’s clients. In this role, you will become an expert at installing, operating, and scaling the Appian platform, and you will scale business process applications on our software. You will become a business process expert in the industries of our clients. The ideal candidate will combine Appian technical, product, and business skills to make our customers successful. This role is based at our HQ in McLean, VA. Appian values in-person collaboration and expects employees to be in the office 4 - 5 days per week to foster culture, teamwork, and strong relationships across the company. In-person collaboration with customers remains a priority, and the office environment enables celebrations of wins, collaboration, and building cross-team relationships. Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer interaction (verbal, written, face-to-face) Systems administration (e.g., Linux, Windows) with IaaS solutions (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Google Compute Engine, or Microsoft Azure). Administering and managing an on-prem Appian environment is a plus. Administration of one or more RDMS platforms (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB) Kubernetes experience is a plus Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, or related field Expert IT systems administrator experience: building, maintaining, scripting, patching, and managing hosts, databases, and interconnected cloud services (3-5 years) Government clearance at the Secret level or higher US Citizenship for Public Sector roles and ability to maintain a Secret or Top Secret clearance CompTIA Security+ certification required prior to or shortly after onboarding Tools and Resources
