Ensures the effectiveness and efficiency of shared service health information management (HIM) department operations. Supports strategic direction, leader development, maintenance/revision of policies and procedures, staffing, quality assessment/improvement, and regulatory compliance. Organizes functions with clear accountabilities and appropriate departmentalization. Develops and maintains a visible, high-performing team by selecting, coaching, and managing professionals. Promotes cross-training, collaboration with revenue cycle leaders, two-way communication, staffing planning, and alignment with strategic goals. Provides vision and operational oversight for the area, and develops policies and procedures aligned with Joint Commission, federal, and state guidelines. Manages budgets and cost control and collaborates with departments and medical staff for strategic alignment and objectives. Facilitates resolution through inclusive communication and stakeholder engagement. Responsibilities
Oversee multiple medical records departments across several hospitals, travel as needed to provide consistent HIM support; establish relationships with network leaders and stakeholders; ensure succession planning and staff development; ensure regulatory compliance. Lead multiple complex performance improvement projects; delegate work, set direction, monitor KPIs, identify risks and opportunities, and develop action plans; provide clear communication to staff and senior leadership; develop training materials for staff and patients. Manage DNFC impact areas to support revenue cycle; coordinate with vendors for remote access and DNFC reporting; oversee release of information services and vendor performance; ensure safeguards against data breaches and unauthorized disclosures. Serve as subject matter expert for applications; collaborate with IT on systems; participate in system initiatives and committees to advance Adventist Health goals. Establish and report quality assurance findings and action plans; optimize documentation practices and procurement of equipment; report performance metrics to finance and corporate HIM; advise administration on productivity and compliance; represent the hospital in legal proceedings as custodian of medical records. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in health information management, healthcare administration, business administration or equivalent experience: Required Master's Degree: Preferred Seven years HIM operations experience (Cerner experience preferred); Epic/EHR conversion experience preferred Five years leadership experience: Preferred Licenses/Certifications
RHIT or RHIA: Required Essential Functions

Direct cross-functional projects, communicate with stakeholders, monitor performance, and guide staff development and training. Act as SME for HIM applications; collaborate with IT on systems upgrades; participate in system governance. Establish quality assurance processes and reporting; ensure efficient, compliant HIM operations and provide advisory support to administration. Organizational Requirements
