The Executive Director is responsible for the overall strategic, operational, and financial leadership of L.I.F.E. Houston. This role directs all organizational functions including fundraising, program development, financial stewardship, board relations, and community engagement to ensure the delivery of high-quality, mission-aligned services.
Responsibilities
Provides leadership and oversight of organizational strategy, operations, and programs in alignment with L.I.F.E. Houston’s mission and strategic plan. Leads fundraising strategy, including grants, donor cultivation, annual campaigns, and community partnerships. Oversees fiscal management, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance with grant and regulatory requirements. Builds and maintains relationships with funders, nonprofit partners, community stakeholders, healthcare providers, and local government. Directs and supervises program development and delivery for emergency infant formula services and nutrition education. Supports and develops a high-performing, mission-driven staff culture. Serves as primary spokesperson for the organization at public events, media opportunities, and advocacy efforts. Partners with the Board of Directors to establish and execute long-term organizational goals. Prepares and presents regular operational and financial reports to the Board. Represents L.I.F.E. Houston at community meetings, conferences, and local coalitions. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Board. Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit management, public administration, or related field preferred. Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in a nonprofit organization. Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, donor engagement, and financial oversight. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to build consensus, lead diverse teams, and engage stakeholders. Familiarity with issues surrounding maternal and infant health, food insecurity, or family services is a plus. Experience reporting to or working closely with a Board of Directors. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required. Skills
