Overview
Regional Campaigns Director (RCD) at Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) works with local Planned Parenthood affiliates and advocacy/political organizations to build grassroots strength and advance policy and advocacy goals. The RCD adapts campaign models for state and local advocacy to build political power and win electoral campaigns, reporting to the Senior Director of Campaign Strategy in the Campaigns department of PPFA and the Action Fund. The Organizing, Engagement & Campaigns department supports local PP organizations, cross-divisional campaign alignment, and long-term organizing power to defend and expand access to sexual and reproductive health care. Purpose: The RCD collaborates with local PP organizations to advance a shared agenda, running campaigns to meet policy and advocacy goals. They work on behalf of the Action Fund and/or PP Votes to adapt campaign models for specific state/local advocacy and political organizations and to build political power and win campaigns. They coordinate with internal and external partners and with colleagues nationally as well as local PP organizations. Delivery: The RCD develops and optimizes campaign plans across a portfolio of states, combats attacks on Planned Parenthood from state legislatures and national opposition, and expands political power. They build relationships, identify opportunities for growth, and act as a strategic consultant for issue, advocacy, and political organizing within their region. They coordinate joint responses with Planned Parenthood affiliates as PPFA and the Action Fund pursue targeted campaigns against federal attacks on sexual and reproductive health and rights. The overarching goal is to create conditions for change in states where access to care is under threat, to expand care in access states, and to mobilize Planned Parenthood supporters to defend access nationally. Responsibilities
Persuade affiliate and local PP organizations to build, adapt, and manage proactive and defensive campaigns Work with affiliates to create centers of state power and influence and drive messaging to counter national attacks Lead collaboration between local PP organizations and PPFA departments to develop and conduct multi-year campaigns that influence state and federal policy goals Adapt national resources (technical assistance, training, coaching, grant support) for local, state, and regional use Conduct strategic planning with local PP organizations to expand PP healthcare footprint and grow supporter engagement Strategize with the Action Fund and PP Votes to secure electoral victories for champions of SRH Provide direct legislative, organizing, advocacy, judicial, and other campaign support and crisis management as appropriate and compliant Foster teamwork in a high-pressure environment and contribute to national/affiliate development of organizing strategies Persuade stakeholders to complete projects, foster collaboration, and debrief/evaluate campaigns Serve as the owner for cross-divisional special projects and coordinate with Campaigns and Elections teams to meet affiliate needs Identify shared goals with local PP organizations, develop written plans, and define deliverables Ensure successful implementation of strategic plans by providing expertise, training, management, and on-the-ground support as needed Delivery (Continued)
Serve as lead strategist and ensure implementation of strategies in assigned states Coordinate affiliate action and connect local efforts to national resources Maintain files, track affiliate activity, and monitor expenditures Assess resource needs of local PP organizations and recommend campaign and capacity grant needs Adapt national action days to fit state environments and affiliate interests Define campaign goals and write campaign plans as needed Identify catalyzing moments and prepare response plans with states Nationalize state campaigns and set national goals for responses to federal threats Guide strategies to bolster actions with pro-SRH leadership and coordinate joint affiliate responses Maximize catalyzing moments (e.g., legislation or impact stories) to drive national messaging Manage complex national/state workflows and affiliate dynamics Coordinate people/resources, manage expectations, and oversee tasks Track progress, measure performance, and adapt plans as needed Create toolkits, templates, and resources for affiliates Build affiliate capacity for meaningful organizing to defend reproductive health care Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
At least 7 years of relevant advocacy and electoral campaign experience in organizing and management At least 3 years of regional/multi-state campaign management experience with proven project management across legislative, electoral, and organizing campaigns Strong organization and familiarity with project management tools, including MOCHA for defining roles Diplomatic judgment, interpersonal skills, conflict/crisis management, and result-oriented leadership Proven ability to build relationships with diverse colleagues Ability to motivate and lead teammates across divisions and geographies High integrity and commitment to Campaigns team objectives Clear communication of progress to varied audiences Ability to set priorities, work independently, and develop systems to address issues Apply a race equity lens and experience in project management design, decision, analysis, and engagement Willingness to work extended hours as needed Passion for Planned Parenthoods mission Working knowledge of voter databases (VAN) preferred Self-starter with creativity and initiative Ability to incorporate resilience into project plans Travel
50-75% domestic travel as needed to various states, plus national meetings/conferences as applicable Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $105,000 - $110,000 per year Total offer package includes generous vacation, sick leave, paid holidays, medical/dental/vision benefits effective day 1, life insurance, short/long term disability, paid family leave, and 401(k).
