Job Description: As a Senior SQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining SQL Server environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. You will perform routine maintenance, support disaster recovery planning, and collaborate with infrastructure teams to manage storage and server configurations. This role requires hands-on experience with SQL Server tools, scripting, and high availability solutions, along with strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Install and upgrade SQL Servers, apply service packs, and perform health checks Schedule and execute database maintenance tasks including index rebuilds, statistics updates, and consistency checks Monitor error logs and system events for database issues Utilize SQL Server tools such as Profiler, Configuration Manager, Performance Monitor, and Extended Events Manage SQL Server security including user roles, authentication, auditing, and encryption Plan and manage storage capacity for SQL Server and Windows Failover Cluster environments Establish backup schedules and recovery procedures to meet RPO/RTO requirements Perform point-in-time database restores and test disaster recovery plans Develop and tune T-SQL scripts and ETL processes Implement and support high availability solutions including Mirroring and Always On Administer Windows Servers including host/guest configuration, endpoint protection, and server roles Use PowerShell for administrative tasks and maintain Windows Failover Clusters

Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:

Minimum 6 years of experience with SQL Server 2016 or later Strong knowledge of PL-SQL, SQL Server tools, and system databases Experience with MID Server administration and configuration management 4+ years of Windows Server administration experience Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and .NET Framework components Experience with application, web, file, and FTP server configuration Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related field

Preferred Skills:

Experience with GenTax/DS-VS architecture Familiarity with PUB1075, FIPS, and PII security standards Knowledge of cloud computing and backup solutions Firewall and Active Directory administration Experience with email, SMTP, proxy server troubleshooting Web services development and support Availability for 24-hour support

The hourly range for roles of this nature are $40.00 to $75.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
