Overview

Sr. Manager, Software Engineering, Core Services (Digital Products) at Scout Motors Inc. This role leads multiple teams of software engineers and drives the development of digital solutions for customers and business partners, including products such as order management, customer management, marketing, production, inventory and planning optimization, loyalty, merchandise, servicing and repairs, mobile app, and vehicle connectivity. You will define engineering strategy, lead execution across multiple products, platforms and systems, and mentor engineers while occasionally contributing hands-on development. Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional teams (product, design, IT, marketing, vehicle connectivity, etc.) to define and execute digital engineering strategy that balances business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation. Lead engineers and technical leaders to deliver interoperable core services and systems (Identity, Accounts, Payments, Notification, Audit, Data and AI, and more) on a robust core infrastructure and platform supporting customer interactions inside and outside the vehicle. Assess and recommend tools, technologies, and build/buy/partner decisions aligned with current and future enterprise needs. Foster a strong engineering culture by defining processes, policies, and practices enabling scalable, reliable software products; champion engineering excellence with measurable metrics and processes. Develop and lead the team to execute short-term and long-term goals, prioritize roadmaps, and manage delivery of large-scale projects across teams. Scope and lead large, complex technical projects with iterative delivery and long-term system reliability. Build high-performing teams through hiring, calibration, and career development planning. Location & Travel

The role can be remote within the United States or based in Fremont, California. Requires 1 day per week in-office attendance with regular in-person meetings and events; occasional travel for company events. What you’ll bring

Here is what else you will bring: Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field. 10+ years of software engineering experience; 5+ years in leading and managing high-performing software engineering teams. Hands-on experience building distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, active-active cloud infrastructure, and devops practices using Go, gRPC, AWS, SQL, NoSQL, event streaming, Redis, Kubernetes, Terraform, and related technologies. Technical leadership for back-end platform, infrastructure, and services with focus on scalability, reliability, and performance. Knowledge of security best practices and vulnerability prevention. Experience operating in startup settings, launching 0-to-1 products and scaling to 100. Experience as a technical lead for large, multi-team projects with roadmaps spanning multiple functions. Ability to influence across the organization and set a clear technical vision. Experience integrating with third-party platforms and external service providers. Nice to have

This is a full-time exempt position with base salary and annual bonus potential. Initial base salary ranges: California: $198,000.00 - $238,000.00; Elsewhere in the U.S.: $180,000.00 - $220,000.00. Internal leveling code: M7. Notice to Applicants
