Wi‑Fi Alliance is seeking a Vice President of Marketing to drive industry and organizational growth through the development and execution of comprehensive marketing strategies. Lead the department that delivers and promotes Wi‑Fi CERTIFIED technologies and Wi‑Fi Alliance membership offerings in the market. This group manages the commercialization of new certifications, brings those certifications to market, and accelerates market adoption of Wi‑Fi CERTIFIED technologies and products. The department also conducts a range of sustaining activities in support of ongoing certification relevance, market development, advocacy, and member and industry engagement.
Duties
Lead product and marketing strategy and management of the marketing organization, oversee marketing communications, public relations and affairs, events, product management, product marketing, opportunity identification, business development, demand generation, and market development activities Develop departmental plans and budget, as well as the strategies, tactics, and resources necessary to achieve organizational goals Lead market focus in the development and sustaining of industry certifications and enabling technologies. Ensure the clear positioning of those certifications and technologies in the broader industry Drive demand for the Wi‑Fi Alliance offering, including membership, product certification, and work area engagement Serve as media and analyst spokesperson; speak at industry events Contribute analysis and recommendations to organizational strategic planning activities Develop and implement strategies that enhance brand identity, and oversee trademark defense resources and programs Lead the development and delivery of effective reporting mechanisms to measure and analyze performance across the department Oversee and direct market and industry analysis and research activities Engage and develop strong relationships with member company executives and other industry stakeholders Contribute industry knowledge and portfolio perspective to Board and executive dialogue Monitor and report on the health of Wi‑Fi Alliance membership, including member satisfaction and engagement; develop and recommend initiatives and programs to ensure continued health Oversee the development of positioning, go‑to‑market strategy, and messaging for key programs and initiatives Interview, select, and retain team members; coach, manage, and evaluate performance per Wi‑Fi Alliance annual cycle Perform special projects as assigned to advance the management of Wi‑Fi Alliance operations Serve as a member of the executive leadership team Experience
10 years of directly applicable experience, including 5 years of previous management experience Demonstrated success leading a marketing department Experience in successful budget development and management Experienced, media-trained industry spokesperson International experience is a plus Skills/Behaviors
Persuasive, polished, professional communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills Critical thinker with demonstrated strategic and analytical thinking skills Ability to see the broader picture and how your work contributes to the advancement of Wi‑Fi technology Results-oriented with the ability to achieve success independently while focusing on business goals and objectives Ability to collaborate and influence at all levels in an organization, both internally and externally, across various geographic locations Agility to handle and deliver on a multitude of unrelated projects, programs, and priorities Ability to travel frequently, including internationally (approximately 25% of the time) Knowledge of wireless technology and trade associations (preferred) Education and other requirements
MBA preferred Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, social media, and marketing automation applications Position is strongly preferred to be located in Austin, TX, must live within reasonable commuting distance to our office. We may consider candidates residing within commuting distance of our Santa Clara, CA office location. No relocation is available. Compensation
