Qualcomm
Overview
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking an individual who leads, plans, and synthesizes ambiguous or conflicting requirements to design, implement, verify, validate, and commercialize Wireless WAN (cellular) modem air interface RAN software. The role focuses on Modem access stratum and RF software design, optimizations, and algorithms, coordinating with the RFFE team to define modem IP architecture, RFFE design, HW APIs, core systems algorithms, and HW/SW/co-processor architecture. It involves transceiver, HW control, and software implementation for a multi-RAT modem (e.g., 3GPP LTE and 5G NR), leveraging RF and WWAN L1/L2/L3 specifications, developing models and simulations, and weighing tradeoffs against evolving requirements.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop automation test frameworks in the RF SW team to verify functionality and performance of designs for various RFFE modules.
Work on transceiver, HW control, and software implementation for mmWave technology in 5G using 3GPP specifications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect and analyze mmWave performance data (throughput, latency, power) to improve product quality and customer experience.
Define modem IP architecture, HW APIs, and core system algorithms; optimize software and hardware interfaces for high performance with acceptable cost and complexity.
Lead design reviews and participate in project meetings; contribute to development plans and execution strategies.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements while balancing silicon area, calibration complexity, and code size considerations.
Telecommuting may be permitted; when not telecommuting, report to Qualcomm’s office locations in San Diego, CA.
Qualifications
Will accept a Master’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with one (1) year of related experience.
Will also accept a Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with five (5) years of progressive related experience.
Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
Pay range: $155,000.00 – $232,600.00 per year.
