Overview
Global Head of Tropical Crops Product Strategy. The role is global and focused on tropical crops with significant travel to tropical markets in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. A large part of the activity can be done remotely from home or a local office. No specific location is required, though some limitations apply. Responsibilities
Collect inputs/trends from region/global to shape the long-term crop strategy of tropical vegetable crops. Project leader and cross-functional convenor for these crops on global initiatives. Define IP strategy metrics. Provide strategic guidance and collaborate with stakeholders/counterparts for product-centric teams in Production & Supply, Finance and Research & Development. Responsible for securing a clear strategic segmentation of the portfolio between customer segments. Own the global Target Product Profiles for the crop mega-segments. Prioritize traits and breeding program resource allocation across regions & customer segments. Drive solving product portfolio gaps and opportunities to address alliances and licensing (in close collaboration with the growth team). Set global portfolio thresholds to drive profitability and new product introduction success. Qualifications
Education: A degree in agriculture, agronomy, or a related field. Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in the seed business and/or crop marketing including research, commercialization, production, and/or supply chain management. Understanding of vegetable seeds, preferably in tropical growing environments. Knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices and their impact on crop production, environmental sustainability, and profitability. Financial acumen: ability to manage budgets, forecast revenue, and analyze financial data to ensure profitability. Strategic thinking: ability to develop and implement long-term crop strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives. Leadership skills: ability to lead cross-functional teams and motivate team members to achieve common goals. Customer focus: ability to understand customer needs and develop crop portfolios that meet those needs. What We Offer
