Hybrid - 3 days on-site We are seeking a strategic and innovative Director of Learning Experience Design to lead the design, development, and delivery of learning solutions that elevate performance across the enterprise. This leader will oversee traditional instructional design approaches as well as digital adoption tools like WalkMe, while building a scalable, data-driven infrastructure for learning effectiveness, quality, and resource management. to modernize and accelerate learning outcomes. Overview As the Director of Learning Experience Design, you will lead design, development, and delivery of learning solutions across modalities and platforms, and drive the strategic and operational capabilities to support scalable, measurable learning across the enterprise. Learning Strategy & Design Leadership
Lead the design and evolution of instructional design strategies across modalities (ILT, vILT, eLearning, blended, performance support, WalkMe, etc.). Embed design thinking and learner-centric principles into all stages of development. Champion and scale the use of WalkMe and other digital adoption platforms to support performance and just-in-time learning. Resource & Capacity Planning
Build and implement a capacity/resource planning model to align instructional design resources with business priorities. Manage a cross-divisional pool of learning experience designers (centralized, embedded, or matrixed) to ensure consistent quality and delivery. Technology & Innovation
Drive the integration of AI and automation tools into the instructional design lifecycle—from content curation to personalization to feedback. Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to improve learning effectiveness and scalability. Quality, Measurement & ROI
Develop and manage frameworks for evaluating learning impact, quality standards, and continuous improvement. Build dashboards and KPIs to monitor instructional design quality, time-to-delivery, learner engagement, and ROI of learning solutions. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
Partner with L&D leaders, business stakeholders, and HR partners to identify learning needs and align solutions to business goals. Serve as a thought leader on instructional design strategy, best practices, and innovation. Qualifications
Required 8–10+ years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or corporate L&D, with at least 3 years in a leadership role Deep expertise in adult learning theory, instructional systems design (ADDIE, SAM, etc.), and digital learning formats Hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions with WalkMe or similar digital adoption platforms Demonstrated experience in building and leading cross-functional teams and managing resource capacity in a matrixed environment Strong skills in learning analytics, evaluation (Kirkpatrick levels), and ROI analysis Proven ability to integrate
technology, AI tools, and automation
into learning solutions Strong business acumen and ability to connect learning strategy to organizational outcomes Preferred Experience working in large-scale or global organizations Familiarity with agile learning development methodologies Certifications in instructional design, learning technology, or WalkMe preferred Pay Rate
$153,500 - $182,500 Salary Final pay rate is dependent on experience, training, education, and location.
