About the Role:

The Nurse Practitioner at our Urgent Care Center (UCC) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across a diverse patient population. This position focuses on providing comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and patient safety. Emphasis is placed on serving patients of all ages, including geriatrics and pediatrics, with a compassionate approach tailored to individual needs. Ultimately, this role aims to improve patient outcomes by delivering timely, evidence-based interventions in a fast-paced urgent care environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Texas.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Certification of ANCC or other acceptable accrediting agency. Certified to practice as a Family Health Practitioner.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support is required.
  • Current DEA, DOP, NPDB
  • Driver's license and vehicle liability insurance required.
  • Advanced training in the provision of primary health and medical care.
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in urgent care, family medicine, or related settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in urgent care centers.
  • Additional training or certification in geriatrics or pediatric care.
  • Strong background in patient safety initiatives and quality improvement processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough clinical assessments and physical examinations for patients presenting with urgent medical conditions.
  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans while ensuring adherence to patient safety protocols.
  • Provide patient education and counseling on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment options.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care, facilitate referrals, and ensure seamless patient transitions.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and maintain up-to-date medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide appropriate interventions within the scope of practice.
  • Consults with clinic physician on a monthly basis to review patient’s care according to approved nurse practitioner protocols to evaluate quality assurance in an expanded role of nurse practitioner.

Skills:

The Nurse Practitioner will utilize clinical assessment skills daily to evaluate patient symptoms and determine appropriate interventions. Expertise in family medicine enables effective diagnosis and treatment of a broad spectrum of conditions encountered in urgent care. Knowledge of geriatrics and pediatrics ensures that care plans are age-appropriate and sensitive to the unique needs of these populations. Strong nursing and trauma management skills are essential for responding to emergencies and stabilizing patients. Additionally, patient safety skills are applied consistently to minimize risks and promote a safe care environment, while effective communication and collaboration skills support teamwork and patient education.
