Job Summary The Senior Tax Manager will lead a profitable functional area of the practice, acquire new clients, expand services for existing clients, and lead a team of tax professionals to ensure exceptional client service. This role supports business development and growth initiatives and is responsible for retaining talented staff through strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring. The position will review complex individual and business tax returns and assist with tax planning, prepared financial statements, and researching complex technical tax issues. Key Responsibilities
Lead a profitable functional area of the Firm. Manage and coach staff to meet performance expectations and firm standards. Assist with business development including meeting with prospective clients, preparing quotes and proposals, and evaluating client needs. Develop and manage prospective and existing client relationships. Participate in firm-wide marketing initiatives and professional/community activities. Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, management, and IRS representatives on tax matters. Review individual and business tax returns and tax planning. Prepare client billings and follow up on unpaid invoices. Prepare internal memoranda, guidance, and other documents for submission to the IRS or Treasury. Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Provide leadership and technical training for managers, seniors, and staff accountants. Review complex tax returns and provide constructive feedback to preparers. Provide leadership, delegation, and staff development opportunities. Collaborate with principals, managers, and staff to work effectively as a team. Use current tax and accounting software effectively on engagements. Research technical tax issues. Requirements
8 years of tax and accounting experience in a CPA firm. Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High prioritization skills with exceptional attention to detail. CPA exam passed and license active. Preferred Qualifications
8–10 years of tax and accounting experience in a CPA firm. Experience with ProSystems Tax Preparation software and QuickBooks. Customer-service oriented with attributes: proactive, observant, knowledgeable, and reliable. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 20 pounds, stand or sit for extended periods, and type/enter data at a keyboard. Equal Employment Opportunity
