Position Summary This position is a dedicated support resource for key customers to ensure strategic and tactical alignment with upstream suppliers, BMSC, and the customer. The position works in conjunction with and in support of Purchasing staff (Buyer I, Buyer II, Buyer III, and Purchasing Manager) in the tactical and strategic procurement of an assigned client. Daily, they gather and analyze inventory levels and production system demands, support quotations and price optimization, and prepare Purchase Orders (POs) for procurement of materials. They drive long-term strategy by aligning the procurement strategies of the customer with the internal procurement plan, collaborate with an external client, Sales, and Operations to implement programs to create sustainable and successful partnerships. The success of the position is determined by effectively demonstrating the ability to improve agility, improve service, and ultimately drive cost savings. Responsibilities and Essential Duties Maintain a safe work environment, and adhere to safety procedures. Collaborate with the customer to understand procurement priorities and align them internally with cross-functional teams Maintain accurate pricing, forecasting, and inventory levels to avoid out-of-stock situations on monthly commitments to the customer. Align and measure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for suppliers and ensure communication of KPI performance to internal and external stakeholders. Build successful partnerships with both the supplier and customer. Negotiate elements of assigned supplier relationships, including pricing, delivery, and long-term contracts Communicate with suppliers and carriers to arrange POs and assist Accounts Payable with approval of invoices. Identify and create solutions to a variety of inventory conditions to avoid expired materials and aged inventory. Work cross-functionally with Sales and Scheduling to ensure the accurate arrival of materials to support production and customer needs. Manage consumption rate, Days of Inventory On-Hand (DIO), Aged Inventory, and Expiry reports within assigned commodities and materials. Provide analysis and recommendations on relevant products to the customer and suppliers. Prepare reports and records related to buying and inventory activities. Work alongside Regulatory and Quality to support the onboarding of new materials and suppliers. Travel when required. Work with other departments to ensure that project goals and expectations can be met. Manage inventory levels and review MIRB materials supporting the G/A department for quick removal of inventory approved for destruction. Support Notice of Event (NOE) investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions to ensure repeat non-conformances are eliminated. Support physical inventory projects for internal and customer inventory purposes. Qualifications Technical Skills Required Knowledge of principles and practices of Procurement, Sales, and Operations in a manufacturing environment. Prior knowledge or ability to learn about market trends, conditions, seasonality, perishability, and inventory turns expertise. Able to work independently and communicate effectively (written and verbal). Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of vendors. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and problem solve. Demonstrated professional leadership and negotiation abilities. Familiarity or working knowledge of ERP Systems; SAGE X3 is highly desired. Proficiency in Excel, other Microsoft Office products, and Windows-based programs. Ability to analyze multiple forms of data as they relate to the decision-making process. Quickly adapt to changing conditions. Ability to multitask and work well under pressure. Detail-oriented and superior organizational skills. Experience Required 4-year degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training within the field. 2+ years of combined buying, planning, and sales experience. 3+ years of operational and leadership experience required. Physical Requirements The employee may be asked to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Works inside in an open office environment: must be available to work 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Frequent exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, heavy machinery, fumes, or airborne particles, electrical, chemicals and moving parts. Prolonged use of computer screen.
