Demolition Estimator
We are seeking an experienced Estimator for selective commercial demolition projects. As a Demolition Estimator, you will prepare and present bid documents and estimate project costs. You will actively participate in daily activities and process work accurately and efficiently. This role involves in-office and field training under the supervision of the Senior Estimator. Responsibilities include analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates. You will prepare estimates for management and vendor selection purposes, review data to determine material and labor requirements, and prepare itemized lists. You will consult with clients, vendors, and other individuals to discuss estimates and resolve issues. You will meet bid deadlines and ensure peer reviews and checklist completion for each estimate. You will examine plans to identify unique job characteristics and note them for bid compensation. You will prepare the bidding checklist and visit job sites to assess additional job characteristics. You will conduct plan take-offs to create means, methods, and coverage proposals. You will contact suppliers and subcontractors for material questions and quotes. You will review historical job data to estimate work completion time. You will analyze subcontractor bids and select the best-suited one for the job. You will add incidentals and contingencies to bids and verify calculations. You will prepare and attach the Scope of Work to bids and oversee bid document presentation. You will submit bids to Prime Contractors or customers and analyze unsuccessful bids for improvement. You will track bid results and assist Project Managers with Change Orders when needed. You will interact with clients, engineers, other trades, and city officials related to specific projects. Essential Skills include proficiency in estimating software and construction estimating. Experience with demolition and demolition estimating is required. Knowledge in construction management and take-offs is required. Experience in bidding and pricing for commercial construction is required. Additional Skills & Qualifications include 2-5 years of experience in demolition estimating or related fields such as carpentry or masonry. Strong attention to detail is required. Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits in Michigan is required. Cost Estimating Training is advantageous. A college degree is preferred. Work Environment is based in the office with a start time of 6:30-7am and closing at 4:30pm Monday through Thursday, and 4pm on Fridays. The position requires in-office work and site visits when needed. A company vehicle is provided for travel from the office to job sites. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates willing to move to metro-Detroit. Additional benefits include year-end bonuses, a matching 401k, optional dental and vision insurance, and life insurance coverage. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
