Overview
We are seeking a Principal Product Designer to join the Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology (DEEP&T) team. You will lead the creation of thoughtful, innovative, and user-centered design solutions for products used by millions of Disney customers each year. You will drive the end-to-end design process—from discovery and ideation to prototyping and delivery—crafting intuitive, delightful experiences across a range of platforms and touchpoints. You will influence the strategic direction of the company through design leadership, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help scale design systems and the overall design culture. On any given day at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology (DEEP&T), we’re reimagining ways to create magical experiences for the world’s most beloved stories while transforming Disney’s media business. The Design team builds digital customer experiences across Sports, Entertainment, News, Streaming and Enterprise Products and Experiences. We value collaboration, innovation, and design excellence to push the boundaries of creativity and user experience. Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end design for large domains, guiding projects from strategy through delivery and aligning cross-functional teams. Define and influence product strategy through research insights, design sprints, journey mapping, and usability testing. Contribute to and scale design systems, establish design standards, and raise the bar for the organization’s design practice. Advocate for design as a strategic function and communicate a clear product vision to stakeholders and leadership. Collaborate with Design, Product, and Tech leadership to drive organizational progress and maintain a people-centered design culture. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. 10+ years of focused product design experience with a track record of leadership and impact. Expertise in design fundamentals, interaction design, content strategy, and user research. Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills; ability to advocate for design at multiple levels. Experience guiding projects, defining product vision, and delivering measurable design outcomes. Experience building or contributing to design systems and fostering a culture of inquiry. Preferred Qualifications
Senior design leadership experience influencing product strategy and organizational impact. Demonstrated ability to scale design practice across large organizations. Additional Details
Location options include New York, NY or Los Angeles, CA. The stated salary ranges are: New York, NY: $175,800 - $235,700; Santa Monica, CA: $167,700 - $224,900 per year. Final offer depends on internal equity, geographic region, experience, and other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to benefits. Seniority level
