Shipping & Receiving Specialist

This role is primarily responsible for the receipt, inspection, and inventory management of materials used in the in-plant production and fabrication of machinery within a high-technology, low-volume, high-variation, project-driven, build-to-order manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include unloading, receiving, inspecting, and stocking incoming materials. Additionally, the position oversees domestic and international shipping activities, including coordination with freight forwarders and managing the quoting process. The individual will collaborate closely with procurement, planning, warehousing, distribution, and production teams to ensure seamless material flow and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include: Unload and conduct initial inspections of incoming materials. Inspect purchased components, assemblies, accessories, and raw materials to ensure compliance with specifications. Identify defects in materials, workmanship, or damage incurred during transit. Verify quantities and part numbers against procurement documentation to confirm order accuracy and completeness. Approve or reject items based on inspection results and document findings and disposition. Physically receive materials and accurately enter data into the MRP system. Maintain Kanban systems for designated hardware items to support inventory control. Assist operations by facilitating material movement and picking parts required for production. Collaborate with Quality and Purchasing teams regarding vendor performance and delivered quality. Prepare shipments for commercial transport, selecting the most cost-effective and efficient shipping methods. Execute parcel and freight shipments using UPS, FedEx, and other carriers. Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
