Overview
Warehouse Associate – Vallen
Join our team at Vallen. This role is responsible for receiving, handling, stocking, storing, recording, and dispatching goods in a warehouse or distribution center in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Completes shipments by processing and loading orders; reads production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Unloads, receives, and stores incoming goods; inspects for damage and discrepancies; prepares goods for storage or shipment; uses appropriate handling to prevent damage.
- Sorts, labels, moves, and stores goods; places items on racks or bins according to product codes; optimizes warehouse space and follows work orders or verbal instructions.
- Weighs or counts items for inventory accuracy and distribution within the warehouse.
- Picks, packs, and dispatches outgoing goods; uses pick sheets (paper or electronic) to locate items; prepares products for shipment on pallets using pallet jacks or forklifts; verifies product and quantity accuracy.
- Loads trucks for customer delivery; ensures items are secured to prevent shifting; records any discrepancies between goods and shipping orders.
- Consolidates freight for shipping as appropriate; verifies shipping method and communicates oversize loads as needed; maintains shipping routes.
- Enters data into databases to maintain stock records; retrieves information to respond to inquiries; documents discrepancies and seeks corrective action with management.
- Operates warehouse equipment as needed (forklifts, cherry-picking lifts, pallet jacks, etc.).
- Assists in inventory maintenance and counts; adheres to warehouse safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of relevant experience and/or training.
Relevant Experience and Aptitude
- Loading, unloading, picking, packing, or moving goods in a warehouse; forklift/cherry picker experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, work orders, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
- Basic computer skills; aptitude to learn MS-Office, inventory systems, and related software.
- Basic math skills; ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Ability to compile routine reports and write correspondence; able to work in a team and be self-motivated.
- Attention to detail and safety-mindedness.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work environment may be non-temperature controlled; may be hot or cold and dusty.
- May handle hazardous materials and wear protective equipment.
- May require forklift or other certifications (written and/or driving).
- Shifts may vary or rotate; overtime and weekend work may be required with little notice.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; physical tasks include standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing; vision requirements apply.
