Overview

  • Reporting to the General Manager, you will be performing tank truck and trailer driver duties by delivering petroleum products to company retail sites or commercial customers while following specific policies and procedures from written or verbal instructions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receives delivery orders from the truck dispatcher, organizes delivery route including all preparations for delivery and calls dispatcher or leaves a message on recorder after each delivery.
  • Follows Department of Transportation safety specifications to perform pre-delivery trip check on tank truck and fuels, inspects truck for general operating requirements, and ensures all required equipment is available and in good operating condition.
  • Drives a tank truck and trailer or tractor/trailer to customer locations, connects hose to tank and opens valves, reads gauges, records amounts delivered, and leaves delivery ticket with the customer. Loads truck and/or trailers at designated facilities following all rules and regulations for each facility.
  • Returns to the terminal at the end of the workday and completes post-trip truck inspection to determine if repairs are necessary. Accurately completes all regulatory and customary paperwork.
  • Establishes and maintains good customer service and rapport while handling customer questions or schedules. Calls customers before loading/leaving the rack to ensure the customer is able to receive the load. Addresses inquiries or refers customers to the trucking supervisor for assistance.
  • Maintains assigned work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly manner, performing housekeeping chores as required and/or directed.
  • Follows safety rules and regulations for ships, loading docks, customer premises, traffic laws, and DOT regulations. Follows environmental procedures and reports safety and environmental incidents and concerns to the supervisor.
  • Performs minor vehicle maintenance as needed (e.g., changing light bulbs, replacing discharge valves, hoses, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as required and requested.

Qualifications

To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring visa transfer or sponsorship. To comply with regulations at this work location, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).   • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Type A with Hazmat and TX endorsements
  • At least three years of experience as a professional truck driver in a Type A vehicle
  • At least three years of experience driving a manual transmission (on either a CDL A or B vehicle)
  • Petroleum or transporting liquids experience preferred
  • A clean driving abstract for the last five years
  • General mechanical knowledge and skills
  • A working knowledge of math; must be able to perform routine mathematical calculations
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed and comply with DOT “Hours of Service” requirements
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 60 pounds
  • Good communication skills, ability to work with deadlines, organizational ability and problem solving
  • Ability to work in difficult conditions and handle situations involving customers, operations and emergencies

Location: This position is based on the Island of Oahu, reporting from Kalaeloa or Sand Island Trucking Yards and delivering to customers across Oahu.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $37 plus discretionary bonus.
