Overview

Job Title: Water Truck Driver

Location: Richmond, VA

Major Role and Purpose

Safely and efficiently drive the water truck to job sites for various purposes including dust suppression.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
• Drive the water truck to job sites for various purposes including dust suppression.
• Operate an auxiliary pump on the truck to pump water to settle and compact dirt.
• Drive a truck equipped with a sprinkling attachment to settle dust on roadways and streets and to saturate certain construction site areas.
• May drive a truck equipped with a trailer.
• Open valves or start pump to fill tank.
• Read gauges or meters and record quantity loaded.
• Connect hose to tank and open valves.
• Monitor flow gauges, tachometer, and temperature gauges.
• Oil and lubricate equipment.
• Work out of the water truck as needed to perform manual labor to assist with various paving and construction activities.
• All other duties deemed necessary or assigned.

Education

• High School Diploma preferred.

Skills Required

• Must possess a valid CDL, Class B, with air brake endorsement and tanker endorsement.
• Ability to do basic math.
• Vision must be acceptable for day and night driving.
• Ability to read a GPS.
• Understand DOT guidelines and regulations.
• Experience working in and around construction sites.
• Able to work nights and weekends as needed.
• Ability to operate additional heavy equipment is a plus.

Physical Demands

• Job requires the following motions: climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, reaching.
• Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
• Overtime work is required.
• Manual labor as needed.
• Ability to operate additional heavy equipment is a plus.
