Overview

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards across work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to assist with additional tasks to achieve Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors on all tasks.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe, secure shopping environment. Keep egress clear. Report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Show respect and courtesy to Customers and Associates; be friendly and professional at all times. Recognize fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assist Customers as needed – register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably. Greet Customers with eye contact, smiles, and a courteous greeting throughout the store; say thank you at checkout.
  • Provide prompt responses to Customer needs; respond to service calls immediately; resolve issues courteously and escalate to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors) and replenish restroom supplies; disinfect high-touch areas including front-end, sales floor, and restrooms to maintain a clean environment.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor; merchandise items per presentation guidelines and maintain brand familiarity to assist Customers.
  • Understand Loss Prevention programs, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise; demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions.
  • Follow all policies for cash, checks, card transactions, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with tenders.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds; some positions may require lifting more than 20 pounds for stockroom work.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Other qualifications may apply depending on assignments.
