Position Summary
The Accountant contributes significantly in all financial reporting for the School, including financial statements, internal and external financial surveys, verification, reviews, and posting a variety of financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles and MSM policies and procedures. This position requires advanced experience in general accounting, generally accepted accounting principles, and governmental accounting procedures. The role requires analytical skills to assist in reporting for Fixed Assets, as well as conducting annual fixed asset perpetual and physical inventory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
- Provide professional level, cross-functional general accounting support which is analytical, evaluative, innovative and advisory in nature for the General Accounting section of the Office of the Controller.
- Maintain accounting reconciliations and a wide variety of centralized accounting services where the application of GAAP is used in classifying, examining, analyzing, reconciling, and reporting of financial transactions while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations between entities, programs, and funds.
- Analyze financial results and make intelligent business recommendations to improve these results.
- Contribute in the analysis, consolidation, and preparation of institution’s financial statements as well as management analysis reports and internal and external financial surveys.
- Solve problems associated with accuracy of financial information and complex accounting matters.
- Assist with report specifications and testing of reports and ensure accuracy, timeliness, and reporting of financial information. Ensure reports function efficiently and securely.
- Support during the annual financial audit process and preparation of data files for auditors.
- Assist in other accounting and finance related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration from a regionally accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) experience.
