Overview
Accountant role at EWTN. Onsite position based in Irondale (Birmingham), AL — not remote eligible.
What You Will Do
- Understand and promote the mission of EWTN and the Accounting Department.
- Maintain and foster strong relationships with internal and external partners, promoting an attitude of helpfulness.
- Cultivate a culture of integrity and disciplined stewardship of financial resources.
- Maintain and safeguard the integrity of the general ledger and related financial systems.
- Manage fixed assets, depreciation, and restricted cash schedules for assigned entities.
- Support the Financial Manager in the monthly close process, including making ledger entries, reconciling accounts, and analyzing variances.
- Assist with preparation of annual budgets, tax returns, and filings.
- Prepare and provide documentation for the annual external audit and facilitate audit procedures.
- Assist and collaborate on various projects and other duties as assigned.
About You
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with strong knowledge of GAAP.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field; CPA, CMA, or related certification preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Team player with collaborative mindset.
- Knowledge of internal controls and awareness of potential indicators of fraud.
- Flexible schedule to complete tasks as needed.
- Experience with Business Central, MS Office, Concur, and not-for-profit accounting preferred.
- Affinity for EWTN’s mission and understanding of the Catholic Faith preferred.
