Overview

Grant Accountant role at Good360. The Grant Accountant will primarily be responsible for managing the full financial lifecycle of all restricted grants, ensuring compliance with funder requirements, internal policies, and GAAP. This role is part of the Finance team and supports financial reporting, analysis, and other accounting needs as necessary. The Grant Accountant will track, monitor, and report on restricted funds, including indirect cost recovery, programmatic spend-down, and grant closeout processes. The Grant Accountant will serve as a key liaison between the Finance Department, Program teams, and the Grants & Contracts Director to ensure accurate, timely, and transparent financial management of Good360’s grant portfolio.

Base pay

$80,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr

Key responsibilities

  • Manage financial oversight of all restricted grants, including tracking revenue, expenditures, and compliance with donor restrictions.
  • Monitor and calculate indirect cost recovery on applicable grants.
  • Develop and maintain systems to track programmatic spend-down and ensure timely utilization of restricted funds.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual grant financial reports for funders and internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with the Program teams and Grants & Contracts Director to align financial reporting with programmatic outcomes.
  • Ensure that all grants are measured, documented, and reported in compliance with GAAP, donor requirements, and organizational policy.
  • Support grant audits, funder inquiries, and annual audit requirements.
  • Assist with budget development for new proposals and grant modifications.
  • Continuously improve internal processes to strengthen grant financial tracking and reporting.
  • Support and cross-train in AR, AP, Payroll, and other month end processes.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (CPA or advanced degree a plus).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of finance/accounting experience, with at least 2 years working directly with restricted grants in a nonprofit environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, grant compliance, and nonprofit financial management.
  • Experience with indirect cost recovery and funder-specific reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Work location

Hybrid with an office in Old Town Alexandria – minimum 2 days/week in office (Anchor Day – Tuesday)
