Staff Accountant

CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking a Staff Accountant for a long-term contract opportunity with a government entity that provides essential services to the community, including support for mental health, substance use, and developmental disability programs. This role offers a meaningful way to contribute your accounting expertise in a public service setting while gaining valuable experience in governmental finance.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate financial activities for assigned programs and departments, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Monitor and oversee financial operations to promote fiscal accountability and transparency.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and standards.
• Collaborate with program leaders to manage budgets, control expenditures, and optimize available resources.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required)
• Experience: Prior experience in governmental or nonprofit accounting is preferred
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Familiarity with public sector financial regulations is a plus

Compensation and Benefits:

• Employment Type: Long-Term Contract
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, Full-Time
• Location: On-site in Tarrant County, TX
• Pay Rate: Pays up to $31/hr.
