Department: Finance • Reports To: Utility Billing Supervisor • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt • Classification: A13 PT • Location: City Hall • Workdays: Monday - Friday • Work Hours: Up to 19 per week
Summary
The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for visitors and callers to City Hall, providing excellent customer service, accurate information, and administrative support to various city departments. This position represents the City professionally and courteously, ensuring smooth communication between the public, staff, and officials. May assist with utility collections as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet and assist visitors to City Hall in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer multi-line phone system; direct incoming telephone calls to the appropriate departments or staff members.
- Provide general information regarding city services, programs, and events.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming reception area.
- Handle confidential information with discretion and follow city policies.
- May assist with water bill collections and billing.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office.
- May process water bills through payment collection and account adjustments, approving and accurately processing payments through various methods.
- Ensure compliance with city policies and utility regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1 year of receptionist, office assistant, or clerical role.
- Must have knowledge of basic math.
- Professional appearance and demeanor required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as a team.
- Spanish-speaking a plus.
