Responsibilities
- Provide electrical services including repair and/or replacement; install, maintain and upgrade electrical systems and equipment.
- Assist other skilled trades in the maintenance or repair of equipment for the distribution or utilization of electric energy.
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and ensure compliance with codes.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits; plan layout and installation based on job specifications and local codes.
- Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment; place conduit and pull wires through conduits to complete circuits.
- Perform physically demanding tasks as required and provide preliminary material cost estimates.
- Maintain current electrician’s license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Thorough knowledge of electrical theory, methods, materials, tools, equipment, and systems.
- Strong understanding of applicable state and federal codes and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints; knowledge of building architectural/structural elements.
- Adaptable and flexible in work situations; able to prioritize tasks for timely completion.
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of PPE.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years’ experience as maintenance electrician, including 2 years at journeyman level.
- Experience in industrial or commercial facilities maintenance environment.
- Duty phone; valid driver’s license compliant with REAL ID Act (or willingness to obtain one).
- Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Regular, dependable attendance; U.S. citizenship to access military installations.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Use of hands, reach, talk, walk; prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping.
- Climb ladders and enter confined spaces; may work in varying indoor/outdoor temperatures and weather.
- Work may involve exposure to electrical hazards; reasonable accommodations may be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified journeyman.
