ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS, REHABILITATION & REENTRY (ADCRR) is seeking an Electrician to perform installation and restoration work within Arizona State Prison Complex-Lewis, Buckeye, AZ.

ADCRR is searching for observant and dependable Electricians to perform installation and restoration work, including skilled electrical duties in the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of prison facilities and equipment at Arizona State Prison Complex-Lewis.
Job Duties
- Supervises and teaches new electrical skills/safety training for inmate workers
- Performs preventative maintenance on back-up generators
- Repairs/replaces electrical components based on interpretation of blueprints, sketches, schematics, and drawings using specialized tools
- Performs repairs and service for all electrical systems and/or appliances
- Ensures all electrically controlled gates/doors are in proper working condition
- Maintains and ensures that all security lights as well as non-security lighting fixtures are in working order
- Repairs wastewater equipment when applicable
- Inspects all electrical panels and ensures proper working condition
- Operates and tests emergency transfer switches
- Tracks work orders and purchase requests for electrical components and obtains material cost estimates
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
- Methods and practices of electrical remodeling, constructing, installing, and replacing major utility services
- Reading and understanding blueprints, sketches, and schematics related to building and utilities
- Understanding National and local building codes and safety practices
- Trade of electrician
- Commercial electrical systems 227v, 480v, and above
- Using common and specialized tools, equipment, and materials
- Ordering and estimating materials and costs
- Basic computer skills (Excel and MS Word) for reports and research
Skills
- Repairing, replacing or modifying old services to meet new requirements
- Preventative maintenance on motors, generators, batteries, clocks, pumps, belts, public address systems, etc.
- Reading and interpreting schematics for repair or installation work
- Installing conduit, wiring, outlets, fixtures, switches, and services for increased electrical power needs in state buildings
- Testing electrical equipment with meters to detect faults
- Operating articulating boom lift for pole light repairs
- Interpersonal communication and teamwork
Abilities
- Read and understand blueprints, sketches, and schematics for buildings and utilities
- Apply and understand building codes and safety practices
- Use common and specialized tools and equipment
- Order and estimate materials and costs
- Work in a prison environment
- Supervise inmate work crews on electrical repairs
- Lift 70 lbs; Push/Pull 80 lbs; Walk/Run 0.25 miles
Selective Preference(s)
- Four (4) or more years of experience in the commercial electrical industry
- Minimum two (2) years of hands-on training with a licensed contractor; combination of training and experience may substitute
- One (1) year of journey-level electrical experience
Pre-Employment Requirements
Employment is contingent on passing a background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination. A TB test is required during New Employee Orientation and yearly thereafter.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function, the employee must possess a current, valid driver’s license and complete required driver’s training and checks. If operating a personally owned vehicle on state business, liability insurance as required by law must be maintained.
