We’re opening our new Kansas City facility and are looking for a Human Resources Generalist to be the on-site HR partner. You’ll work independently while staying connected with HR teammates at other locations, sharing knowledge, backing each other up, and aligning with the HR team’s big-picture goals.
As our HR Generalist, you’ll cover a wide variety of responsibilities—from recruiting and employee development to engagement, benefits, leaves, and policy guidance. If you’re energized by variety and want to be part of a supportive, collaborative HR team, this is the role for you.
Responsibilities
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Facilitates pre-employment screenings and conducts orientations for new hires; responsible for onboarding and training of new employees.
- Manages temporary staffing vendors and all aspects of contingent worker assignment lifecycle, including group interviewing, onboarding, and replacements.
- Administers benefit plans, including health and dental insurance, 401k plans, and paid time off.
- Serves as primary contact for leave management (FMLA, STD) and workers’ compensation claims in compliance with laws.
- Supports weekly payroll processing including approval of time records for location employees.
- Responds to general HR questions from employees, applicants, and supervisors.
- Performs routine HR program tasks in areas such as compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, performance and talent management, safety, and training and development.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings and terminations.
- Performs monthly audits (e.g., First Aid Kits) to ensure compliance across the facility.
- Processes departmental Purchase Orders in a timely manner.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; reviews policies to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR and employment law.
- Other duties and project work as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent combination of education and progressive HR experience.
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal employment laws.
- Experience administering FMLA and workers’ compensation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn the HRIS Paycom.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic benefits administration knowledge (preferred).
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times.
