Job Summary / Basic Function
The Human Resources Specialist’s job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing general office and administrative support to LIT’s Human Resources (HR) office and staff, serving as the initial point of contact for inquiries to the HR department (via phone, email and in person), and maintaining departmental files, both paper and electronic. This position is a non-exempt role that reports to the Human Resource Managers.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist new hires with onboarding paperwork
- Process new hire E-verify cases and logs accordingly
- Label and file personnel records in accordance with the documented file retention standards
- Scan and index personnel documents into Banner ERP through Xtender
- Enter Personnel Action Forms and other documents for benefit, employment and payroll processing into Banner
- Manages the online execution of electronic leave reporting through Self Service Banner (SSB) by monitoring leave reports accuracy and completion for entire campus
- Respond to incoming requests for verifications of employment
- Prepare and process departmental purchase requisitions and purchase orders
- Maintain office supply inventory for the HR department
- Support the HR managers in preparing for events by creating and maintaining training logs, organizing the catering, and printing materials
- Answer basic questions queried to the HR department and maintain the shared HR department email box
- Maintain the HR reception area, answer phone calls, and greet employees and visitors
- Schedules and manages interviews for all full-time positions
- Entry of new hires into Vector for completion of mandatory training
- Manages and tracks emergency leave tracker
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to: remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree and/or college hours from a regionally accredited college or university and equivalent work experience in Human Resources or a related field; highly relevant work experience may be substituted for education, where appropriate.
- One to three years of relevant experience in Human Resources.
- Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills including MS Office.
- Must be customer service oriented with superior organizational skills
- Able to meet payroll-sensitive and other relevant employment deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher education work experience.
- Experience in using Banner ERP.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field.
Salary
$36,000-41,000
