Overview


Human Resources Generalist II / Human Resources Generalist III at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy (COP). The role serves as the Employee Engagement Coordinator, providing comprehensive human resources support across the employment lifecycle. The incumbent partners with faculty, staff, and administrators to enhance recruitment, engagement, onboarding, training, and retention in alignment with the College's strategic goals. They handle confidential employee information and ensure compliance with privacy laws and university policies.


Responsibilities



  • Employee Training, Retention and Engagement: Develop and implement a comprehensive New Employee Orientation program for staff; coordinate staff engagement activities (Staff Retreats, Staff Award programs, staff development programs); promote professional growth through a monthly staff development newsletter; maintain a staff development resource hub on the COP HR website; create opportunities for interactive staff social engagement; serve as liaison to the Superior Accomplishment Award Committee; coordinate annual employee surveys and analyze engagement metrics; foster a listening culture by incorporating feedback mechanisms into engagement and communication strategies.

  • FMLA And Leave Support: Administer FMLA and other leave programs per university policies and federal regulations; guide employees and supervisors on eligibility, documentation, and return-to-work procedures; monitor leave balances and coordinate with Payroll and Benefits; support employees in navigating complex leave scenarios and accommodations; stay updated on leave laws and regulations.

  • Talent Acquisition: Manage assigned recruitments (draft job descriptions, post requisitions, review applications, phone screen candidates); partner with hiring managers to ensure compliant searches and strong candidate experience; conduct employment verifications, reference checks, and background screenings; support onboarding for all new employees (faculty, TEAMS, OPS, student assistants, graduate assistants as assigned).

  • General Employee HR Support: Serve as HR consultant for faculty and staff on policies, procedures, benefits, and employment concerns; advise on performance appraisals and provide HR reports on compensation, hiring, leave, and salary equity; manage visa application processes in collaboration with employees, administrators, Tax Services, and the UF International Center; stay current on visa regulations and ensure timely renewals; other duties as assigned by the HR Director.


Qualifications


Required: A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred:



  • Level II: Three years of HR experience in higher education with a focus on employee engagement initiatives is preferred.

  • Level III: Five years of HR experience in higher education with a focus on employee engagement initiatives is preferred.

  • Energetic, customer-focused attitude with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in higher education or a large, complex organization.

  • Knowledge of leave administration, employee engagement, and talent acquisition processes.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Experience developing and leading employee engagement, development, and retention programs, including orientations, trainings, and retreats.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and strategic planning/project management capabilities.

  • Technical aptitude with proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel emphasis), WordPress, Salesforce, and SmartSheets.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with a diverse constituency.

  • Passion for leading, influencing, and motivating others.


Salary and Benefits


Base pay range: $55,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr


Level II: $55,000-$65,000; Level III: $65,000-$75,000.
