How You Make a Difference

The Dental Assistant provides documentation of dental services to the dentist or their designee, maintains dental charts, keeps records of dental findings, and schedules patients for appointments. Accurate documentation enables dentists to monitor care and deliver the best possible treatment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides chair-side assistance during procedures, sterilizes instruments, and mixes restorative materials
  • Performs intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays, develops and mounts films
  • Maintains x-ray, processor, autoclave, and dental units according to specifications
  • Manages inventory, orders supplies, and prepares trays for patients
  • Completes daily instrument count, performs dental screenings, and maintains sanitation of the clinic

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Associate’s Degree or Certification in Dental Technology from an accredited school

Experience

  • Experience in private or public dental practice as a Dental Technician or Registered Dental Assistant
  • Sound judgment in dental decisions within a correctional healthcare setting

Licenses/Certifications

  • CPR certification (must be obtainable and maintainable)
