Major Duties

  • Serves as a cybersecurity Subject Area Expert (SME) and provides cybersecurity assistance to the Primary ISSM when assigned, and guidance to Program/System Managers (PM/SM) for systems or applications.
  • Supports the Primary ISSM and/or the PM/SM in implementing and maintaining the DLA Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DLA Information Technology (IT).
  • Ensures all corresponding RMF documentation is maintained in a repository to include dates and modifications to relevant artifacts.
  • Acts as a cybersecurity technical advisor to the respective PM/SM and, when necessary, formally notifies the Primary ISSM, Authorizing Official and/or Security Control Assessor of changes affecting the information system’s cybersecurity posture.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of the applicable Cybersecurity Program Plan for the Program Management Office, identifying cybersecurity architecture, requirements, objectives, and policies.
  • Serves as a principal advisor to leadership on cybersecurity matters related to the information system.

Qualification Summary

To qualify for an IT Specialist (INFOSEC):

  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience with the competencies to perform the duties of the position. For GS-13, one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems. Includes meeting eligibility requirements such as time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date.
  • Creditable specialized experience includes: evaluating and providing cybersecurity guidance on system development lifecycle, continuous cybersecurity compliance monitoring, participating in cybersecurity task forces, and related responsibilities. Volunteer work and paid experiences are creditable as described.
